R3X Backup System
A private, owner-operated desktop backup utility for preservation and recovery of R3X development files.
What this application does
The R3X Backup System uses the rclone desktop utility and the Google Drive API to copy selected R3X software project files and approved supporting assets from the owner's computer to the owner's Google Drive. Its backup workflow also checks file integrity and helps preserve historical recovery copies.
It is a personal maintenance tool, not an R3X student application and not a sign-in service for teachers, students, or schools. It is not offered for public use.
Why Google Drive access is requested
The desktop client requests the Google Drive permission needed to read backup files, create and update backup archives, and verify or recover them. The full Drive OAuth scope permits broad access to the Google account, including reading, creating, editing, and deleting Drive files; its permissions are not technically limited to the R3X backup folder. The intended workflow operates on the owner's designated backup location.
Data boundaries
Backup selection is intended for approved source code, release assets, instructional media, non-identifying development records, and restoration materials. Identifiable student records, passwords, and private service credentials are not authorized backup content. Access is initiated and controlled by the account owner.
